Muhammad(saws)’s grave lies within the confines of what used to be his and his wife Ayesha’s house. During his lifetime it was adjoining the Masjid, but the Masjid was expanded during the reign of Caliph al-Walid I to include his tomb. The graves behind these 3 doors sit below the single Green Dome of the Masjid An Nabawi, Madina.
Muhammad is buried next to the first two Khalifas, Abu Bakr and Omar. Omar was gifted a spot next to Muhammad by Ayesha, which had originally been intended for her. An empty place beside the tomb of Muhammad in Medina is reserved for Jesus who will return to the Holy Land to kill the Antichrist and rule for 40 years, then be buried next to Muhammad.
